Why boiler type decides your morning

A flash heater is a low-mass heating element that water passes through on demand — near-zero wait, but it can only do one job at a time and holds little thermal reserve. A single boiler heats one tank used for both brewing and steaming, so you wait while it climbs between the two temperatures. A heat exchanger runs brew water through a tube inside the steam boiler, and a dual boiler simply has two — both let you pull a shot and steam milk simultaneously, at the cost of the longest warm-up and the biggest footprint. Heat-up speed and temperature stability are different axes. A PID holds brew water in a tight band; a mechanical thermostat swings much wider.
